Introducing Reiki
Reiki literally translated means “universal life energy” and is pronounced ray-key. This Japanese healing practice was founded by Dr. Mikao Usui in the last 1930s. It harnesses a gentle and beautiful energy that flows through the practitioner and into the client. Promoting healing, relaxation, balance and overall wellbeing. During a Reiki treatment, the client lies comfortably, fully clothed on a bed. As the session begins, you may feel a sense of warmth being released from my hands as they hover over you. This is the “universal life energy”, this is Reiki energy that I “channel” bringing and directing it into areas that need healing and balance into the body.
You may experience sensations such as warmth or coolness, tingling, a light “floaty essence” in the body. The main sensation clients feel is a deep sense of serenity and relaxation as this divine energy flows through you. This flow of energy helps to release blockages, restore harmony allowing a sense of peace and calm to the mind. It helps the body to regenerate, enhancing vitality and overall wellness. The more you have the better you feel.

Reiki can also be sent across distances and even through time. Since it’s pure energy distance is not a limitation, allowing it to be shared “across the airwaves” so to speak, with the same effectiveness as an in-person session.

After a treatment it is advised to drink plenty of water, and take it easy, be kind to yourself allowing time to process what may have come up. How you feel can vary form person to person. Since we are all unique and have different needs or challenges. The effects of a session are experienced differently by everyone.
The benefits can last days, weeks or even months. You don’t need to hold any specific beliefs about higher energy or spirituality for it to work; the process naturally harmonises with you and supports your well being in its own way. Best to just keep an open mind and enjoy the experience as each time will be different for you. The best way to find out if it is right for you is to simply give it a try.
